“Above it All” consists of two major parts – Water Towers in New York City’s urban environment and the mostly pristine (but endangered) waters of Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia and its surroundings. The common thread is water.

Carl Stein — Presentation & Discussion: 21 April, 7pm

Carl Stein, FAIA, former President of the Westbeth Board of Directors, in his new book, Greening Modernism makes a case for a more unified and holistic architecture that reaches a sustainable synergy through building reuse.

Mr Stein, an architect with long experience in greening and sustainability pays particular attention to the balance between the qualitative aspects of science and the more effect-driven aspects of utility and human experience.

With a slide presentation of his work and the work of others, Mr Stein will engage in an in-depth discussion of greening and sustainability opportunities in the prospect and shelter aspects of our lives.

An exploration of various uses of the grid, specifically demonstrating its application to urban and rural landscape painting, how it is incorporated, with examples of when it becomes a primary element to the situation.
