The work of 40 visual and performing artists, curated by Steve Clorfeine.

CORRESPONDENCE From across the U.S. as well as from six countries, each invited by exhibition curator and artist Steve Clorfeine, 40 artists create works inspired by letters and postcards written to Mr. Clorfeine over a period of 50 years.

The works include painting, sculpture, collage, video, photography, film,
installation and performance.

Spanning multiple generations and cultural backgrounds, the artists
incorporate selections from the original correspondence materials into their
chosen format and perspective to create works that reference the time-honored
practice of exchanges of written words and images. The art of correspondence –
sensory, temporal, tactile, aesthetic, imaginative – is interpreted and presented in
40 different ways of seeing.

The project was in part conceived and developed during a residency
fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center in 2014. CORRESPONDENCE
represents the culmination of the project.
