M14A Bus loop saved for 9 months
Here’s what you need to do!

The MTA will be monitoring ridership. We as a community must make sure the ridership continues to increase. Sometimes there are 3 M14D buses in a row, and you may, out of frustration, be tempted to take one. Please hold out for the bus of your choice, the M14A Abingdon Square Loop!

Thank you to our elected officials: Congressman Jerry Nadler, State Senator Brad Hoylman, Assemblymember Deborah Glick, and Manhattan Borough President, Gale Brewer.

But a huge thanks to City Council Speaker Corey Johnson and his Chief of Staff Erik Bottcher who carried the heavy load on this issue.

Below is the campaign we waged for preserving the M14A Abingdon Square Bus Loop

Andy Byford, President
MTA New York City Transit
2 Broadway
New York, NY 10004

Dear President Byford:

The residents of the West Village recently learned of the planned discontinuation of service of the Abingdon Square loop on M14A bus service. If this happens, it will have a devastating effect on our community.

Our community includes Westbeth and West Village Houses which have a number of senior and disabled residents, as well as families with small children. The M14A is a lifeline for them to get to vital services along the 14th Street corridor: Mt. Sinai medical services, Union Square Farmer’s Market, Westside Market, Trader Joes and Beth Israel, just to name a few.

I know that some MTA officials are recommending that people take the M20 to the M14 and then transfer to an uptown subway or bus. Bus riders tend to be older and poorer and this will place an undue burden of additional time, money and energy for these riders.

I urge you to keep the Abingdon Square Loop as part of the M14A bus route.

Sincerely,
