current work
These ceramic vessels are from a recent solo exhibition at Hostler Burrows Gallery in Los Angeles.
Using traditional ceramic techniques I build spare singular vessel forms activated by multi-layered glaze fired surfaces. The vessel surface becomes a canvas on which to explore color and record textures observed in nature and the urban landscape. I develop my glazes from scratch and use painting techniques to achieve dynamic texture and color. Through the firing process form and surface become integrated into the final work.
