Ralph Dubin painter (1919 – 1988)

The art critic, Emily Genauer, wrote of Ralph Dubin, the 20th century American painter: “Once in a while an artist like Ralph Dubin comes along to remind us that theories are thin things, capable of being rent by any unique talent.”

Dubin’s work evolved from social realist figuration into one more heavily influenced by abstract forms. His teachers were Stuart Davis and Raphael Soyer.

His work is represented in many private collections. Public collections include the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Cornell University, and the Museum of Modern Art. He was represented for 20 years by Kraushaar Gallery, NYC.

He taught at the New School for Social Research, and the Brooklyn Museum School.
