BIO AND STATEMENT
KAREN LUDWIG moved from San Francisco to New York City when she was 18 to study acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse and the HB Studio. She soon performed Off-B way and on Broadway, on TV and film. An early film was Manhattan, as Meryl Streep’s lover and later as Ethel Rosenberg in HBO’s Citizen Cohn.

She directed the DVD, “Uta Hagen’s Acting Class” following her mentor ‘s master classes from Toronto to L.A. Most recently she performed “Where Was I?”, her solo show at Joe’s Pub in New York City.

Throughout her career she has taught acting – at NYU, USC, HB Studio and The New School (where her interview series, “About the Work” is available on YouTube.)

Writing short plays has been a long-time interest. Her play, SOMEPLACE IN THE SUN was filmed during the Covid pandemic; she directed by zoom. With the help of her friends and colleagues from L.A. Laura Gardner and Frank Collison, (“Cookie and Lou”) – they were able to complete their first film-making project- shot for a very low budget
with one camera in one day.
