Myung S Lee — Korean Buddhist Dancer

Myung Suk Lee is a distinguished Korean American artist, scholar, and founder of SUTRA DANCE, dedicated to preserving and sharing the sacred art of Yeongsanjae in a modified and contemporary style. Her lifelong devotion to this cultural heritage has spanned over four decades, reaching audiences across the U.S., Moscow Russia.

MYUNG S LEE is a distinguished scholar, practitioner, and performer of Korean Buddhist traditions. She practices the Buddhist Yeongsanjae ceremony, which is similar to the type of opera that comprises dancing, music, drumming, and chanting and is recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Lee has extensively studied Korean Buddhist theory, liberal arts, music, chanting, and temple folk dance. Recognized in Moscow, Russia, and North America,
Lee has been performing for the past forty-one years and has been teaching, writing, and choreographing in New York City since 1991.
