“Delighted to have my collages from The Policeman’s Beard is Half-Constructed in the New Humans: Memories of the Future opening exhibition at the New Museum on 235 Bowery, NYC on March 21st.”

It is the first book written by a computer and published by Warner Books in 1984.

Joan Hall’s collages and assemblages have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, including the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Museo Tamayo in Mexico City. She was commissioned by the American Cultural Center to lecture, exhibit, and conduct workshops in France, India, Brazil. Joan’s illustration art is now in the permanent collection of The Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA.

On March 21, 2026, the New Museum’s 60,000-square-foot building expansion will open with the exhibition New Humans: Memories of the Future, spanning the entire Museum alongside several major new commissions that will be on long-term view in and around the building.
