Jem Cohen — Film and Photography

Feature length films include MUSEUM HOURS, COUNTING, BENJAMIN SMOKE, CHAIN, and INSTRUMENT (Fugazi). Films are in the collections of New York’s MoMA, Whitney, Jewish Museum, and D.C.’s National Gallery of Art. WE HAVE AN ANCHOR was a mainstage show at BAM and London’s Barbican. Grants include Guggenheim (2001), Alpert Award (2005), Creative Capital (2000), NEA (2003), Independent Spirit Award (2005). Gallery shows include Robert Miller Gallery, SF Cameraworks, University of Michigan Museum of Art, Sharjah Biennial. Cohen has worked extensively with musicians including Patti Smith, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Terry Riley, Vic Chesnutt, R.E.M., Elliott Smith, and DJ Rupture. Cohen teaches at the New School and ICP.
