“Thanks to Greenwich House, the wonderful people who attend my ART TALK program at Center on the Square and Westbeth Center, and a grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), with funds from the New York City Dept. of Cultural Affairs, I’ve been able to realize a collective portrait of Greenwich House attendees. Each painting was done from life on 12 x 9 inch canvases. Working from life allowed me to get to know each individual better, and to see their habits of sitting and looking. In my proposal I anticipated painting 8-10 portraits, but I have exceeded that expectation, and have made 14 (to date).”

Beyond Likeness will feature all of the Greenwich House portraits, plus other portraits I’ve made in recent years, form my community of friends, family and artists. So you might find yourselves among them!
