Arnold Hinton’s photography focuses on social justice and humanity, drawing parallels between the racism and oppression experienced by Jews in concentration camps to the experience of African Americans. He visited concentration camps in Berlin and Vienna. “In America if you were Black, you were a slave, you picked cotton and sugar cane and that was it,” said Arnold. “But to see how the Germans built these camps/houses with sinks and toilets and wash basins for people that you were going to annihilate– to me, it made no logical sense.” Despite facing his own share of systemic barriers and societal prejudices, his work conveys a sense of activism and empathy, calling for a dialogue that bridges the past to the present.

Mei-Yin Ng Focusing initially on modern movement as inner being, Ng’s work continues to evolve with the possibilities of contemporary technologies. Her extensive prop training in Chinese dance inspired her to meditate on the use of props, and later technology, as an extension of the human form. She founded MEI-BE WHATever in 2002 as a collective field for collaboration and experimentation of technology in just this vein. MEI-BE WHATever has performed at festivals, museums and theatres in US, Asia, Europe, North and south America.

Siaka Hinton “My screenplays, in sum, nurture characters, birthed by phenomena and landscapes, which I absorb each day. Because of my fervor and devotion to heart and spine of each story, I feel them vividly, which is what motivated me to create in school, and will continue to drive me, like a trusted collaborative hand, tending to the life and soul of every creation.”
