Celebrating the vinyl release of MISTERIOSO, a recording Westbeth residents Teri Roiger (voice/synth) and John Menegon (bass) did 25 years ago with jazz legends Jack DeJohnette (drums) and Kenny Burrell (guitar).

It was beautifully remixed and mastered by Dave Darlington at Bass Hit Recording (NYC) and released on Valley Jazz Records, John & Teri’s record label. This was the first and only time jazz legends Jack and Kenny recorded together in a studio. You can order your vinyl copy at www.valleyjazzrecords.com or contact us at Westbeth.

Teri Roiger
“Teri Roiger is one of the great though unheralded vocal artists and lyricists of her generation, a living link to giants like Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln. The similarities to these influential precursors are certainly there: Roiger is determined, uncompromising, and blessed with a high level of creative energy and industry that knows no pause. Her singing is filled with natural range, color and emotion, yet somehow seems utterly effortless. She has formidable piano chops, too, writes music and pens lyrics to famous jazz solos, a la vocalese masters Jon Hendricks and Eddie Jefferson.” THOMAS STAUDTER, Music Journalist (2023) Westchester Gazette, Downbeat, etc.

John Menegon
(Bassist, Composer, Arranger) www.johnmenegon.com
“New York bassist John Menegon is in the line of George Mraz and Michael Moore; aharmonically sophisticated bassist with technical facility who swings hard when it’s called for.” Kirk Silsbee, Downbeat! Menegon is a jazz bassist, but is also a guitarist, arranger, and composer. He began his career as a musician in Montreal playing in groups with the great guitarist Nelson Symonds, as well as pianist Vic Vogel and guitarist Sonny Greenwich. After relocating to New York City, he played bass for over ten years with two legendary tenor saxophonists, Dewey Redman and Texas Tenor David “Fathead” Newman. This experience provided a solid foundation for Menegon to continue his explorations as a bandleader, composer and arranger, and he has been composing and arranging music throughout his career.
