Rachel Urkowitz — Installation, Sculpture, Collage
Rachel Urkowitz is a mixed media artist, with a background in painting. An interest in color, nature, and the complexities of perception runs through her diverse practice, which ranges from large sculptural environments to small scientific illustrations. She is currently represented by DeChiara Projects, NY/Berlin. She is a professor at Parsons School of Design in New York City.
Current work: Alternate Side Paintings: small watercolor paintings done in my car as aI wait for the time to pass during alternate side parking. all work is watercolor and gouache on paper, and is available in small editions of giclée prints. Visit my website or instagram page for more details.

Vertical Greensward, 2005-2014, paper sculptures install in a 19th century carriage house in the Islip Art Museum. This piece was a response to both Frederick Law Olmstead's vision for Central Park and the vision of a perfect lawn as a lynch pin of the American Dream.

It is an honor to be selected as the cover artist for various Lancet Journals. I work with editors and research scientists to create interpretive images of the main idea of their research papers in various medical disciplines.
