The goal of the project is to ensure the long-term stability of Westbeth as affordable housing for artists and as a complex that supports the development and presentation of art. To that end\, Westbeth is investing in new roofs\, elevators\, energy efficiency infrastructure\, beautification of its historic façade\, and replacing nearly 700 windows. The custom-fabricated windows are triple-paned for energy and sound insulation. The weight-and-chain design means that the windows open easily and smoothly. Like the windows they are replacing\, these new mahogany windows will last for many decades.
