The members of the Westbeth Beautification Committee continue their mission of beautifying the environment. First by planting flowers, and helping to succor and maintain the street trees that surround the building, as well as the beautiful garden in the Bank St. Courtyard.

BC PROJECTS 2014 Courtyard garden

Over the past 40 years, the Beautification Committee has funded many projects from the funds raised at the Flea Market.
Our projects range from the historic restoration of the exterior 19th century electric lanterns, to seating for the building’s common areas, to professional gallery lighting for the new Hallway Gallery, to the wrought iron entrance canopy at 55 Bethune Street, to building street tree planters and guard rails, to providing spring, summer and autumn plant materials to Westbeth’s volunteer gardeners who maintain the public gardens, to wayfinding signage, and more.

Why Shop at this Flea Market?
The Westbeth Flea Market is located in the legendary Westbeth Artists Housing – the largest affordable artists community in the world. The artists who live here donate most of the things for sale here, including one of a kind items that once caught their eye. The items you will find here reflect the lives of artists – beautiful, unique, useful, interesting, dynamic, rebellious, ethereal, tough, sometimes conventional, but more often extraordinary, philosophical, unusual, and out of this world.

Plus the prices are great!

Everything that is not sold at the Flea Market is donated to Housing Works, Salvation Army and other charities.

Lastly a portion of the Flea Market proceeds goes to disaster relief around the world.
