Presented by Monica Barnes

Monica Barnes is an archaeologist and historian who specializes in the pre Hispanic and colonial cultures of western South America. She has been educated at Vassar College, the University of London, and Cornell University. She is the principal editor of Andean Past, a journal with hundreds of technical illustrations. She is also an associate of the American Museum of Natural History in NYC.
Ms Barnes has participated in archaeological surveys and excavations as well as archival research in Peru, Ecuador, Chile the United States, England and Spain. As author, editor, reviewer or translator, she has over 200 publications. She exhibits her photographs in New York, and has curated four national photographic exhibitions.
She is a member of the Professional Woman Photographers, the Downtown 9 Collective, the Society of Women Geographers, and the Hsitories of Archaeology Research Network.
